New Dodger Pillar says Giants tenure was hard for LA family

Kevin Pillar spent one season with the Giants and he arguably was the best player on that 2019 team. But his time in San Francisco wasn't easy on his family.

Pillar, who signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, grew up in the San Fernando Valley, attended Chaminade College Preparatory School and went to Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The 33-year-old outfielder spoke to reporters shortly after inking his contract with the Dodgers and opened up about how his family felt about him wearing the orange and black.

Pillar's 2019 season with the Giants was memorable. He finished tied with Mike Yastrzemski for the team lead in homers (21) and led the club with 87 RBI, 157 hits and 37 doubles. He capped off the season by winning the prestigious Willie Mac Award, which is presented at the end of each season to the most inspirational player on the roster.

If Pillar manages to make the Dodgers' Opening Day roster and he sticks with the club for the long haul, his first trip to San Francisco will be a three-game series from June 10-12.
