MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said losing games due to the league-implemented lockout would be "disastrous."

The league made its "final offer" shortly before the 2 p.m. deadline — a proposal that had significant differences with the union's last offer.
The cancelations cover March 31 (Opening Day) through April 6. The Giants and A's both will lose seven games.
The Giants will their entire opening road trip, including a four-game series in San Diego against the Padres and a three-game series in Milwaukee against the Brewers.
Conversely, the A's will miss their first homestand, including a four-game series against Anaheim Angels and a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers.
