SAN FRANCISCO -- As the Giants started to take the field to play catch Sunday morning at 10:30, a group of blissfully unaware young fans gathered near the end of the dugout, hoping Buster Posey could be coaxed to come out of the clubhouse and sign some autographs.
The Giants themselves were not quite that calm, but they weren't all too far away, either.
Gabe Kapler spent part of his morning doing his usual barefoot workout in the outfield. Dominic Leone and Andrew Bailey played catch with a football, as they have for six months. Reggae blasted from the batting cage. But as he sat down with the media before Game 162, Kapler admitted that Saturday was not easy.

"Last night was not fun," he said.
The Giants whiffed on their first opportunity to clinch their first NL West title in nine years and then watched as the Los Angeles Dodgers demolished the Milwaukee Brewers. They feel good about Sunday's game, though, and Kapler said there was really good energy in the clubhouse.
"Players are walking in excited," Kapler said. "The coaching staff is calm and feeling good about today."
The Giants are calm in large part because of who they have on the mound.
Logan Webb has been one of the best pitchers in the National League in the second half and the Giants have won 17 of his last 19 starts. There's another stat in their favor -- you know, aside from the obvious one that they have MLB's best winning percentage. They are 37-17 this season in games following a loss.

"We've done a nice job of kind of rolling with the things that we can't control over the course of the season but also responding well when we haven't performed at our best," Kapler said. "I think today is a pretty good opportunity for us to continue to stay with that."
