Pederson signed a one-year, $6 million contract with the Giants last week after winning the 2021 World Series with the Atlanta Braves following a midseason trade from the Chicago Cubs. Prior to that, he spentt the first seven seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers
All four of the teams Pederson has played for during his nine-year MLB career have been big spenders on the free agent and trade markets. And as a player, he rightfully wants teams to spend money.

To back up Pederson's point that certain teams haven't spent a lot of money this offseason, ESPN's Jeff Passan (H/T Fox Sports) noted that while the Texas Rangers have spent $580 million this winter, the Athletics haven't spent any money on free agents.
With Pederson in the fold, the Giants' 26-man Opening Day roster projects to be just over $152 million, per Cot's Baseball Contracts, but there are 10 teams with payrolls projected to come in under $100 million.
