How Crawford influenced No. 1 pick Holliday in unique way

It wasn’t Jackson Holliday's luscious locks that helped him become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft on Sunday, but there’s certainly still a great story behind his mane. 

The top prospect and, son of seven-time major league All-Star Matt Holliday, said he grew out his hair because of Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford

“I kinda just started growing it out after my freshman year,” Jackson told ESPN. “I really liked Brandon Crawford's … hopefully he sees this.” 

The Crawford household was definitely aware of Jackson's comments and Jalynne Crawford, Brandon's wife, even responded. 

On the first day of the 2022 MLB Draft, the Baltimore Orioles selected the 18-year-old shortstop as the No. 1 overall pick.
