Any time an MLB umpire is trending on social media, it isn't generally for a positive reason. Such was the case with controversial veteran Angel Hernandez, who was the home plate umpire for Saturday night's Game 2 of the NLDS between the Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers.
It took less than an inning for fans on both sides to begin lamenting Hernandez's questionable strike zone. The folks over at Umpire Scorecards do their best to dissect the overall performance from each MLB game, and their final tally showed Hernandez was the least accurate umpire so far in the 2021 playoffs.

SIGN UP HERE For reference, Mike Muchlinski, who was behind the plate for Saturday's NLDS clash between the Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braces, was accurate 96 percent of the time and had a remarkable 98 percent consistency.
In fact, Hernandez's 91.0 accuracy rate is the lowest the site has measured across MLB since Oct. 1.
The data did conclude that the Giants' had a slight advantage in "overall favor" at .05, although one critical miss from Hernandez likely will stick out for fans.
The green circle with the two inside it represents the ball to Dodgers outfielder Chris Taylor on a 2-2 count, which if called a strike, would have put two outs on the board and kept the bases from being loaded when Cody Bellinger stepped to the plate in the next at-bat.

Instead, Taylor ended up walking and Bellinger's double drove two runs of what became a four-run sixth inning for the Dodgers.
The most memorable miss from the night certainly was the called third strike from Julio Urias to Darin Ruf, which was the most significant miss in terms of inches off the plate this postseason per Umpire Auditor.
Regardless, a few calls going a different way wouldn't have changed things too much, as LA got nine runs across to even the series in Game 2.
We will see if things are called a little closer in Game 3 on Monday night in Los Angeles.
