The Giants had to wait out a five-minute rain delay at Oracle Park on Friday night, and after that, they wasted no time getting to Milwaukee Brewers ace Corbin Burnes in a 6-4 win in the opener of a six-game homestand.
After the Brewers scored two runs in the top of the first inning off Giants starter Sean Manaea, J.D. Davis responded with a two-run homer off Burnes in the bottom half of the inning.
In the fifth inning, the Giants again bounced back after the Brewers scored two runs. This time, San Francisco answered with three runs, aided by a Willy Adames throwing error.
Thairo Estrada grounded a ball back to Burnes, but the former Cy Young Award winner slipped and couldn't make a play, allowing a run to score. After Davis walked, Joc Pederson delivered a two-run, go-ahead single.
Burnes, a Saint Mary's College product, was tagged for four hits, five runs, two of which were earned, and three walks while striking out five in six innings of work.
Manaea allowed six hits, four runs (two earned), two walks and struck out six in five innings pitched.
The play of the game came courtesy of Mitch Haniger, who made an incredible inning-ending diving catch in left center field to rob William Contreras of possible extra bases in the seventh.
Wilmer Flores added an insurance run in the eighth inning with his sixth homer of the season, capping the scoring.

The Giants (14-17) now have won three straight games and look to make it four in a row Saturday with Alex Cobb (2.43 ERA) taking the ball against Brewers start Colin Rea (4.79 ERA).
