NEW YORK -- The schedule changes after the end of the lockout cost the Giants two off days this season. They got an unplanned one on Monday.
The first of four games with the New York Mets was postponed hours before first pitch because rain is in the forecast all night. The teams will play a doubleheader on Tuesday, with the first game starting at 3:10 p.m. locally at Citi Field (12:10 p.m. PT).
The games will be nine innings, as MLB scrapped the seven-inning doubleheaders in the offseason. While the Giants were already working out at Citi Field when the game was postponed, they were grateful that the decision was made early.

"I think all players and staff would also say the earlier the better. It's just easier for planning," Kapler said. "We're glad to have the information, we're glad to have the doubleheader start time. It's just getting things lined up. It always feels best to stay on schedule and to not have to play doubleheaders, but we're all in the same boat."
Alex Cobb, who was supposed to start Monday, will take the first game for the Giants, with Logan Webb getting the night game (yes, it's a Cobb-Webb duo). Tylor Megill and Max Scherzer will start for the Mets in some order.

The Giants and Mets each get a 29th player for the doubleheader. Kapler was coy about his choice, but infielder Jason Vosler walked into the clubhouse as the manager was addressing the media.
