Giants lose fourth straight despite big hits from Crawford

Alex Cobb did all he could to contain the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night at Coors Field while Brandon Crawford had two game-tying hits, but it still wasn't enough as the Giants lost 4-3 on a walk-off hit by Brendan Rodgers in the 10th inning, dropping their fourth straight game.

After Crawford's RBI double down the left field line tied the game in the top of the ninth inning, the Rockies got to Camilo Doval in the bottom of the 10th, sending the Giants to another bitter defeat.

With one out in the bottom of the 10th and the automatic runner on second, Giants manager Gabe Kapler decided to intentionally walk Charlie Blackmon to get to Rodgers, who was 3-for-4 heading into the at-bat.

Rodgers made Kapler pay, lining a sharp single up the middle, allowing Wynton Bernard to score the winning run.

The loss drops the Giants to 59-61. They now are 25-32 on the road this season.

Early on, Joey Bart and Crawford each hit solo homers to keep the Giants in the game.

Cobb allowed 10 hits and three earned runs in 6 2/3 innings. He didn't issue any walks and struck out three.

After Crawford's solo homer in the top of the seventh tied the game, the Rockies grabbed the lead back against Cobb in the bottom half of the inning. Connor Joe led off with a single and was run for. Brian Serven sacrificed pinch-runner Sam Hilliard to second and he scored on a single to right center by Bernard.

Cobb lasted one more batter before being removed from the game. He threw 87 pitches and his ERA remained at 3.99.

Jakob Junis (4-3, 3.53 ERA) will take the mound for the Giants on Sunday as they look to avoid the three-game sweep in Denver.
