Giants hopeful fans can return to Oracle Park next season

Every year, no matter the result of the season, Giants president and CEO Larry Baer and other top team officials send a letter out to fans. This year's came with a twist, just like everything else in 2020: The hope that those fans actually are allowed back into Oracle Park next season.

In a letter sent out on the team's Twitter account Monday afternoon, Baer, president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi and manager Gabe Kapler talked about the resilience of their team and staff and shouted out fans for their toughness through an unprecedented season. They ended it by noting they hope Oracle Park can reopen next April.

"We are already deep into plans for next year, including developing health and safety protocols to create the safest possible environment for your return to Oracle Park," the letter read. "We will continue to keep you posted on those efforts throughout the off season."

A lot of this will be out of the hands of team executives. The Giants have good relationships with the mayor's office and Governor Gavin Newsom, but they still will have to abide by COVID-19 rules in place when next season kicks off in April.
