The deal is for three years, with opt outs after each of the first two years, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Bauer will be the highest-paid player in MLB history in both 2021 and 2022.
The Giants were one of the teams reportedly linked to the 2020 NL Cy Young Award winner, and now he will be playing for the team's long-time rival. Bauer was sensational in 2020, posting a league-best 1.73 ERA with a 0.80 WHIP and 100 strikeouts in 73 innings.
Although the Giants were rumored in talks earlier in the offseason, a source confirmed to NBC Sports California that the final two teams in the Bauer sweepstakes were the Dodgers and New York Mets.
