Dodgers' Pollock out ‘couple weeks' with hamstring strain

The Los Angeles Dodgers tied the Giants in the NL West standings after beating them 6-1 on Saturday at Oracle Park, but they lost a key player along the way.

Outfielder AJ Pollock has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain after exiting the Dodgers' win early. Pollock doubled in the first inning, but was injured when attempting to steal third base and sliding awkwardly.

"Obviously it's a huge loss in any capacity," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the game. "... We just gotta see where we're at tomorrow, but I think at the minimum it's going to be a couple of weeks."

Cody Bellinger replaced Pollock in center field, moving Chris Taylor to left field.

Pollock missed 18 games earlier this season with a strained left hamstring. He's batting .297 with 16 home runs and an .861 OPS.

The 33-year-old has found plenty of success this season against the Giants, too. In 11 games, he's batting .313 against San Francisco, and is 7-for-14 at Oracle Park.

Bellinger went 0-for-2 with a strikeout and a walk in Pollock's absence. The former NL MVP is now batting just .169 with 83 strikeouts in 77 games.

Pollock's loss could play a big role in the NL West standing. The Giants and Dodgers enter Sunday tied for first place with an 86-50 record.
