The Los Angeles Dodgers' 2022 World Series hopes evaporated right before our eyes Saturday night.

Prior to the Dodgers' 111-win regular season, manager Dave Roberts confidently claimed his squad would win the World Series this fall.
“We play a full season and there is a postseason," Roberts said on the "Dan Patrick Show" on March 24. "We are winning the World Series in 2022. We are winning the World Series this year, put it on record. That’s our focus, that’s our goal.”
MLB Twitter so kindly obeyed Roberts' wish and indeed put his comments on record, only to resurface them the second that the final out was recorded in Saturday's loss to the Padres.

Of course, Roberts' preseason prediction was far from bold. Los Angeles went on to have one of the greatest regular seasons in the history of professional sports. Anything less than another World Series victory would be a disappointment.
