Anthony DeSclafani made his first start against the Dodgers in a Giants uniform Sunday. Long story short, it didn't go well.
In fact, DeSclafani hasn't fared well against the Dodgers for six straight outings. Coming into Sunday's game, DeSclafani had lost his five previous starts against the Dodgers, with an ERA over 5.00.
After giving up nine hits and 10 earned runs over 2 2/3 innings on Sunday, DeSclafani now has the second-longest active losing streak by a pitcher against any single opponent with six consecutive losses against the Dodgers. History has repeated itself and then some for DeSclafani.

After the game, Giants manager Gabe Kapler discussed DeSclafani's struggles on the mound.
“I don’t think he had his best command," Kapler told reporters. "When he’s at his best I think he can put the ball where he really wants to put it. There was just a few too many balls in the middle of the plate today.”
A two-run double off the bat of Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias and a grand slam off the bat of the second baseman Gavin Lux were really the only two hard-hit balls the Giants' righty surrendered.
DeSclafani, who had been throwing the ball well up to this point, was asked if anything felt different against the Dodgers.

“Nothing, honestly, felt pretty good," DeSclafani told reporters. "Physically, I felt that the ball was coming out of my hand really well. For me, nothing really felt different. I felt pretty good today. Obviously, it’s weird to say that, giving up 10 runs.
"Yeah, I don't know, at the end of the day it’s baseball. It’s just the way the game goes sometimes. Some balls got through a hole, some bloop hits. I know I gave up the grand slam and walked some guys and all of that. [Julio] Urias put a really good swing on a baseball. There are a lot of things that could have gone the other way, but at the same time, that’s just the way the ball rolls."

Austin Slater was asked about DeSclafani's outing and agreed that the Giants' righty had his pitches working Sunday despite the lack of success.
“Tony has been excellent," Slater said postgame. "I actually thought he had really good stuff today. I had a pretty good view in center field, he was landing his slider all day. Sometimes he has been getting by just with the fastball. He had slider command, he was throwing backdoor to lefties. If you go back and look at it, the 0-0 slider to Urias and hung slider to Lux were only the two hard-hit balls of the day off Tony.”
The Giants' 11-5 loss capped off a weekend sweep at the hands of the rival Dodgers, with the Giants falling back into third place in the division. For DeSclafani and the Giants, they will play two games in Arizona against the D-Backs before heading to Los Angeles for a rematch with the Dodgers.
