It didn't take long for the rivalry between the Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers to flare up in 2022.
On Friday night, first baseman Brandon Belt was on the field for batting practice ahead of San Francisco's Cactus League opener against the Chicago Cubs. When a young fan in the bleachers requested for Belt to throw a souvenir over the netting behind home plate, the "Captain" noticed he was wearing a Dodgers jersey. In a light-hearted exchange, Belt denied the youngster of the baseball and was met with a few cheers from Giants fans.
Instead, Belt walked over to a group of young Giants supporters and tossed the baseball into the seats.

It all ended well for the Dodgers kid, however. He scooped up the baseball after it landed beyond the Giants fans and will be going home happy.

Who knows? Maybe that fun exchange with Belt was enough to get that kid to switch loyalties in the NL West this summer.
