The A's fully expect baseball to be played Tuesday evening. The press box PA announced they are eying a new scheduled start time of 7:45 p.m.
The originally scheduled first pitch time of 7:05 p.m. came and went with actions taken toward playing baseball.
The stadium PA announcer came on at 6:50 p.m. to tell the sparsely-populated, umbrella-and-parka-donning crowd that the game is currently in a rain delay.

SIGN UP HERE If Mother Nature were to deny the A's and Royals a chance to play tonight, it would be the first rain-out in Oakland this millennium. The last rain-canceled game was against Detroit on May 5, 1998.
A rain-out would also set into motion a Wednesday double-header.
Brandon McCarthy and Bruce Chen are scheduled to pitch at 12:35 p.m. Their matchup would be pushed back to the afternoon game, with Tuesday's starters Graham Godfrey and Danny Duffy pitching the early game.
It is unclear how the teams will proceed if Tuesday's contest begins and is stopped before the five-inning requirement to constitute an official game.

The last rain-shortened game in Oakland occurred in 2005, when the A's were denied a chance to come back from a 16-7 ninth-inning deficit to the Rangers.
