Editor's note: The video above is an interview with Giants GM Bobby Evans after Chase Utley agreed to be traded to the Dodgers at the 2015 MLB trade deadline.

Chase Utley did not put the Dodgers over the top after being acquired at the trade deadline, but player and team will reportedly continue their partnership into next season.

The veteran second baseman is set to return to Los Angeles on a one-year deal, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. The contract is believed to be worth roughly $7 million, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports

Utley, a six-time All-Star, had a down year splitting time between the Phillies and the Dodgers in 2015. In 107 games, the 36-year-old batted .212 with eight home runs and 39 RBI.

Utley was suspended for Games 3 and 4 of the NLDS after injuring the Mets' Ruben Tejada on a controversial slide. Utley finished the series with one hit in three at-bats, and the Dodgers were eliminated in five games.

The Giants were considered one of the favorites to land Utley before the deadline, but he chose LA with the belief that he would receive more consistent playing time.
