
Once projected to be the top free agent next offseason, starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg has agreed to a long-term extension with the Washington Nationals, CSN Mid-Atlantic has confirmed. The news was first reported by The Washington Post.
Strasburg, 27, will now be in Washington through 2023 with a seven-year deal. According to MLB Network, Strasburg will earn $175 million total with some of the money deferred.
Strasburg is in his seventh season with the Nationals. He was drafted with the first overall pick in 2009.
