Conflicting reports emerged Tuesday evening that say 20-year-old Cuban outfield prospect Eddy Julio Martinez won't be joining the Giants after all.
Two days after MLB.com reported the Giants and Martinez had agreed to a deal worth $2.5 million, and one day after general manager Bobby Evans acknowledged the likelihood of a deal during a press conference, ESPN's Keith Law and MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez are reporting that there will be no deal and that Martinez will remain a free agent.
On Monday, Evans was asked about the reported deal.

"We haven't announced it yet. But we are very excited about the prospect of putting that on paper and having him as a Giant. We are very impressed by him and he's excited as well," Evans told the media.
Martinez is ranked as the No. 4 Cuban prospect according to MLB.com.
