Report: NL East team asking A's about Sonny Gray

The 2016 season was the worst of Sonny Gray's young career.

But that's not stopping at least one team from talking to the A's about a potential trade for the right-hander.

The Braves, in an effort to beef up their young rotation, have asked the A's about Gray according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.

Bowman reports that the Braves are also asking the White Sox about Chris Sale and the Rays about Chris Archer. Atlanta has added veteran right-handers R.A Dickey and Bartolo Colon on free agent deals this offseason.

Coming off a third-place finish in the AL Cy Young voting in 2015, Gray came crashing back down in 2016.

The 27-year-old right-hander went on the disabled list twice and posted a career-worst 5.69 ERA in just 117 innings.

A week ago, Fox Sports reported that the A's will entertain offers for Gray, reliever Sean Doolittle and catcher Stephen Vogt.
