
For weeks, the speculation has been that the Giants are making a serious push to sign Zack Greinke.
If he winds up inking a deal with the Dodgers, San Francisco will turn its attention to signing both Jeff Samardzija and Mike Leake, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
The Giants acquired Leake in a trade deadline deal with the Reds, and Bruce Bochy let it be known in late September that he wants Leake back with the Orange and Black.

"He’s brought what we were hoping for,” Bochy said. “He’s young but yet he’s a veteran pitcher. He’s durable. He had the hiccup with the hamstring (strain) but that’s a freak deal. He knows what he’s doing out there. He’s got four pitches, and when he’s locked in he’s tough...
"It’s obvious we like Mike a lot. We traded for him … we think a lot of him, and that’s why we acquired him.”
Over nine starts with the Giants, Leake went 2-5 with a 4.07 ERA.

As for Samardzija, sources told CSNBayArea.com's Alex Pavlovic that the Giants hosted him in November.
Samardzija is coming off the worst season of his career -- 11-13 with a 4.96 ERA for the White Sox. He allowed an American League high 29 home runs and 118 earned runs.
In 2012, he went 9-13 with a 3.81 ERA for the Cubs.
In 2013, he went 8-13 with a 4.34 ERA.
He made 33 starts in 2014 -- 17 with Chicago (2-7, 2.83 ERA) and 16 with the A's (5-6, 3.14 ERA) -- and was traded to the White Sox in December.
