The two teams are in "active talks" regarding the 29-year-old pitcher, according to Fox Sports' Jon Morosi.

In 16 starts for the Padres this season, Cashner has a 4.76 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 79.1 innings.
In his last start on Tuesday against the high-power Blue Jays lineup, Cashner gave up four hits and three earned runs in six innings, while striking out six.
The Marlins, Orioles and Rangers have all reportedly been linked to Cashner in recent days.
