Former Oakland Athletic and 18-year MLB veteran Jason Giambi will interview to be the sixth manager of the Colorado Rockies, according to The Denver Post.
Giambi, 41, will reportedly be the team's last in-house candidate. Last week, the Rockies met with bench coach Tom Runnells. Colorado will entertain candidates from outside the organization as well.
Giambi, who has never coached before, recently underwent hernia surgery in hopes of milking a 19th season out of his 6-foot-3, 250-pound body. He would forgo playing for the beginnings of a coaching career.

Giambi spent his first eight MLB seasons playing with Oakland, where he hit .300 with 198 home runs and won the 2000 AL MVP Award. Giambi is a career .280 hitter with 429 home runs, ranking him 43rd on the all-time list.
He is coming off a two-year, 2 million contract with the Rockies.
