Report: Dodgers place Puig on trade waivers

Despite putting up big numbers since his demotion to Triple-A, Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is still in the minors instead of with the big league club.

And now, the relationship of the Dodgers and Puig continues to be up in the air. On Sunday the team placed Puig on trade waivers, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal

Down in Triple-A with the Oklahoma City Dodgers, Puig is crushing the ball. The 2014 All-Star is batting .375/.420/.641 with four home runs in 17 games played.

The Dodgers sent Puig down to the minors after trading for right fielder Josh Reddick.

After starting off his MLB career on fire, Puig has cooled off mightily the last two seasons. This year in 81 games for the Dodgers, Puig is hitting .260/.320/.386 with only seven home runs.

Heading into Sunday's slate of games, the Dodgers (72-57) lead the Giants (70-59) by two games in the NL West standings.
