With free agency set to begin this week, the A's have made a minor move.
Chris Smith, who pitched in 13 games for the A's in 2016, has reportedly re-signed with the club on a minor league deal.
The 35-year-old Smith posted a 2.92 ERA in 24.2 innings for Oakland. Smith served as a starter for Triple-A Nashville and in 22 starts for the Sounds, he was 6-8 with a 3.93 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 130.2 innings.

The A's originally signed Smith on Nov. 15, 2015.
Drafted in the 4th round of the 2002 MLB Draft by Boston, Smith has pitched at the major league level with the the Red Sox and Brewers. He has also spent time pitching in the organizations of the Mariners and Padres.
