Potenziano leaves Giants for Pirates

Ben Potenziano, the San Francisco Giants' strength and conditioning coach for the last six seasons, has been named the new assistant athletic trainer for the Pittsburgh Pirates.Pirates general manager Neal Huntington announced the hiring Monday.

"It has been an experience I will never forget," Potenziano told Comcast SportsNet's Amy Gutierrez. "The Giants have been a family to me as well as to my wife and children. They are an exceptional organization that I have been fortunate to be a part of. I want to thank Brian Sabean, Bill Neukom, Bruce Bochy and Dave Groeschner for all of their guidance and support. I have truly enjoyed my time with the Giants and being a part of the 2010 World Series team."Potenziano was the trainer for the 1996 San Jose Giants and was named the Texas League Trainer of the Year in 1997 for his work with the Shreveport Captains.
