NEW YORK -- With the Giants already playing without three position players, Buster Posey was forced to come out of Friday's game at Yankee Stadium with a foot contusion.
Posey fouled a ball off his back foot in the second inning. He grimaced, but drew a walk and later hit a single. He appeared to be fine while running the bases. However, Posey was replaced by Trevor Brown when the Giants came back out for the bottom of the fourth.
X-rays were negative and he was diagnosed with a right foot contusion. The Giants said Posey's status is day-to-day.

The Giants are already without Hunter Pence (hamstring), Joe Panik (concussion) and Matt Duffy (Achilles). Pence and Panik have been slow-played during the rehab process, and both are expected to need at least a few more days in Triple-A. Duffy is about a week away from starting his own rehab assignment.
Posey had reached in both his plate appearances Friday, but the Giants were trailing 2-0 at the time of his departure.
