Piscotty reinstated off bereavement list; Opening Day starter optioned again

After taking a few days to mourn the passing of his mom, Stephen Piscotty was reinstated from the bereavement list by the A's on Tuesday.

Gretchen Piscotty died on May 7 after a yearlong battle with ALS.

Stephen played in two games after Gretchen passed away, but was placed on the bereavement list on May 11. In an emotional moment, Piscotty singled in his first at-bat on May 8.

To make room on the roster for Piscotty, the A's sent Opening Day starter Kendall Graveman back to Triple-A Nashville. Graveman returned to the A's when Piscotty was placed on the bereavement list and gave up four runs (one earned) in six innings against the Yankees on Friday.

The A's are in Boston to take on the Red Sox Tuesday evening, but the forecast calls for a lot of rain throughout the evening.
