NEW YORK -- Already playing without second baseman Joe Panik, the Giants lost another key bat in the seventh inning Sunday.
Angel Pagan pulled up between first and second after an RBI single and was diagnosed with a left hamstring strain. Pagan will be out at least two to three days, and with Panik not ready to start Monday in Cincinnati the Giants will have to call up an extra position player. With Pagan down they have just three outfielders, making Mac Williamson or Jarrett Parker a likely choice. Pagan hopes to be back in the lineup soon.
"I was trying to go for a double and I tried to stop and I just felt a little tweak," he said. "But it's nothing bad. It's just something that could happen to anyone. It's tough weather (in New York), too. It just happened. There's nothing I can do about it."

Pagan has been limited by injuries for much of his time with the Giants but he said he has never had a serious hamstring injury. A surgical procedure he had in 2013 was on a tendon behind his left knee.
Pagan has been healthy since the start of camp this year and was the last position player to get a day off. He is batting .315 this season with two homers and 13 RBI, and he has played well defensively after a move from center.
"He's done such a great job for us," manager Bochy said. "Meanwhile, we've got (Gregor) Blanco ready to go."
Panik has missed the past two days with a groin injury but Bochy said the groin felt much better Sunday morning and Panik could be back Tuesday.
