During a conversation with NBC Sports California's Brodie Brazil, the veteran catcher said he is entertaining the possibility of becoming a manager as one option that keeps him around baseball.
"I know you have to earn your stripes, and you have to get there," Vogt told Brazil. "And so I think for me; obviously, my goal is to one day manage, and I always set my sights very high, and I'm not afraid to hear no. I'm not afraid to fall flat on my face."
Despite playing in just 63 games so far this season, Vogt has played a role in helping young A's players get the hang of being big leaguers.
While Vogt has his eyes set on being a future manager, he is open to other opportunities, such as being in the front office or working in the media.

"For me, I don't know what route I want to take," Vogt told Brazil. "I love the idea of media. I love the idea of coaching. I love the idea of front offices.
"I love the idea of I could also see myself going home and being with my family for a year. I think for me, it's the right opportunity will present itself, and I'm open to any and all. So what the immediate future holds? I don't know."
Whatever opportunity comes Vogt's way, he will not take it for granted. Additionally, whichever team decides to hire him will get someone who will give everything they have to the position.
"One of the things that I've always done is just I feel like and I've worked on this, this isn't just something that I learned it was being present where you are," Vogt said.
"And I feel like I've gotten very good at understanding I'm going to be 100 percent present wherever I am in that moment. And so whatever job comes my way, I want to be able to give 100 percent of what I have to that job."
