Davis, 33, spent five seasons with the A's from 2016 through 2020. He led the majors with 48 home runs in 2018, finishing eighth in AL MVP voting. Davis also finished 22nd in AL MVP voting in 2017 when he hit 43 homers.
From 2016 through 2019, Davis averaged 39 homers as the A's designated hitter.
The A's traded Davis to the Texas Rangers, along with Dane Acker and Jonah Heim, in February for Elvis Adrus and Aramis Garcia. Davis struggled for the Rangers, batting just .157 with two homers in 22 games. He was released by the Rangers on June 13.
Davis then signed a minor league contract with the A's on Aug. 4. Since then, Davis has done everything right, crushing the ball for the Las Vegas Aviators. In 16 games, Davis hit .333 with 10 homers and a 1.303 OPS.
