Stephen Vogt is returning to Oakland.
The Athletics and their former catcher are in agreement on a major-league contract, as first reported by Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle. The news was confirmed by NBC Sports California’s Brodie Brazil, who reached out to Vogt.

Vogt spent five years with the A’s (2013-2017), where he was beloved by fans and even had his own dedicated chant. The roar of “We believe in Stephen Vogt” will soon echo throughout Oakland Coliseum once again this season as the veteran is reunited with his old team.

During his first tenure with the A’s, Vogt hit .255 across five seasons with 49 home runs and 198 RBI. He was a two-time All-Star (2015, 2016) and won the Catfish Hunter Award for being Oakland’s most inspirational player in three consecutive seasons. Vogt was also the A’s first two-time winner of the Dave Stewart Community Service Award.
Vogt also played for the San Francisco Giants in 2019 and then the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2020 before splitting time between Arizona and the Atlanta Braves last season, where he won a World Series championship serving as Atlanta's backup catcher.
