BART refutes Angels' claim that train delay affected Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani was a late scratch from his scheduled start on Thursday against the Athletics in Oakland, with the Los Angeles Angels citing a crash on the Bay Bridge and then a delayed BART train.

The folks over at BART, however, weren't interested in taking the blame for Ohtani's start being pushed back by a day.

Angels manager Joe Maddon told reporters Thursday that Ohtani was on a bus that was delayed on the bridge, forcing him to hop on a BART train instead.

Ohtani instead simply will serve as the Angels' designated hitter on Thursday night and take the mound Friday at the Coliseum.

The Angels appear to have chosen to stay in a hotel in San Francisco, instead of somewhere closer to the A's ballpark in Oakland. BART's social team couldn't help but keep the trolling up with the news that Ohtani won't be the starting pitcher Thursday.

The team's travel director might think twice about choosing lodging across the Bay on the Angels' next road trip.
