A's starter Irvin channels Ted Lasso after bad outing

Sunday's outing for A's starter Cole Irvin was one to forget.

Coming off what ended up being the shortest outing of the season for Irvin (2 1/3 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 0 BB, 2 Ks), the 27-year-old lefty will adapt a short-term memory and prepare for his next start.

The term "Be a Goldfish" was coined by the popular television show "Ted Lasso," in which the main character, Coach Lasso, tells his team to "Be a Goldfish" after a loss, bad play, etc.

In Irvin's case, Sunday's outing was one of the worst of his career thus far.

With the A's quickly falling out of the playoff picture after being swept by the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend, they'll need to bounce back soon if they have any hope of claiming a spot in the postseason.

When in doubt, be a goldfish.
