The Athletics started their Fourth of July with two roster moves Sunday, as they placed Mitch Moreland on the injured list and placed first baseman/designated hitter Mitch Moreland on the 10-day injured list, the team announced.

Moreland, who missed 11 games in May with a rib injury, is hitting .238 with six home runs and 22 RBI in 57 games this season for the A's. No reason was given for Moreland's trip to the IL.

Piscotty was placed on the IL on June 19 retroactive to June 17 with a sprained left wrist. At the time of his trip to the IL, Piscotty was hitting .217 with four home runs and 11 RBI.
