Athletics pitcher Daulton Jefferies, who originally was scheduled to start on Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels, was placed on the Injured List, retroactive to Sept. 13, with nerve irritation in his right throwing elbow.
A’s manager Bob Melvin said the issue had been bothering Jefferies for a few days since his last outing on Sept. 12 against the Texas Rangers. It appears there is no concern around Jefferies’ ligament at the moment.
The plan, for now, is to see how Jefferies feels in the next few days and go from there.

After the A's 5-4 win over the Angels on Friday night, Melvin told reporters James Kaprielian would get the start on Saturday. Kaprielian recently had been switched to a bullpen role.
With Jefferies landing on the IL, the team promoted Sam Moll from Triple-A Las Vegas and plan to use him in a long reliever role. Miguel Romero, who had been promoted recently, also could provide some length out of the bullpen as well.
