Andrus fractures fibula scoring game-winning run for A's

Elvis Andrus left it all out on the field.

The Athletics placed Andrus on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a fractured left fibula. Second baseman/DH Jed Lowrie also was placed on the IL with a sprained right hand. Pitcher Sam Moll was reinstated from the paternity list and infielder Vimael Machin has been recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Andrus injured his leg hustling around the bases to score the game-winning run for Oakland on Saturday in the A's 2-1 victory over the Houston Astros.

The injury couldn't have come at a more unfortunate time for the A's. Oakland enters Sunday four games back of the second AL wild-card spot with just seven games to go.

In those final seven games, the A's are facing the Houston Astros, who are looking to secure an AL West title, and the Seattle Mariners, who still are competing for a playoff spot in the West or as a wild-card team.
