No Hall of Fame for Finley

DALLAS -- The Hilton Anatole lobby is buzzing with mostly writers early on the first day of the Winter Meetings. The big news happened last night with the Marlins signing Jose Reyes.

This morning, former As owner Charlie Finley did not get a call to the Hall. Finley was on the 10-person Golden Era ballot to get induction into Cooperstown. He was a polarizing figure throughout most of his time in the sport.

Finley was the man who sat atop the team as the A's won three straight World Series titles from 1972-74, one of the great feats in the games history. But he was also known as the man who would not pay to keep players and let many walk away too soon.

He was recently elected number-19 on Comcast SportsNets Legends: Top 20 Countdown.

Cubs legend Ron Santo was posthumously voted in the Hall of Fame today.
