MLB rumors: Rangers have ‘deal in place' to send Cole Hamels to Cubs

As of 5:52pm PT, the Rangers are playing the A's. But that's not stopping their front office from making a blockbuster trade.

The Rangers are sending veteran lefty Cole Hamels to the Cubs, according to multiple reports.

Chicago will send low-level prospects back to the rebuilding Rangers. Texas will reportedly send a significant amount of cash to Chicago to help pay Hamels' salary.

With reports swirling that Hamels is on his way to the Windy City, NBC Sports California cameras found the lefty in the Rangers dugout talking to his teammates. He was not hugging them.

A four-time All-Star, Hamels is having a down year for the last-place Rangers. In 20 starts, he's 5-9 with a 4.72 ERA and 114 strikeouts in 114.1 innings pitched.
