Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi has already proven he's not afraid to make a move.
So far, his trade for outfielder Kevin Pillar is going better than anyone could have imagined. But there's still one move that's dangling over everyone's head down the road.
The further the Giants fall in the standings -- no matter how far ahead of the July 31 trade deadline -- the more likely it is that Zaidi trades Madison Bumgarner. And one team reportedly still has their eyes on the starting pitcher.

"There were a lot of conversations during the course of the offseason. The Phillies were one team that I was told already has been doing due diligence," Jon Morosi said Thursday night on FOX Sports.
With trade rumors swirling during the offseason, the Phillies kept close watch of Bumgarner in spring training, and Morosi says that has carried over to the regular season. Through three starts this season, Bumgarner -- a free agent after the season -- is 0-2 with 3.32 ERA and just a 0.95 WHIP.
The Phillies seem like they could be a perfect match for a possible Bumgarner trade. Philadelphia went all-in this offseason by adding Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, Andrew McCutchen, Jean Segura and more. The one missing piece, however, is a left-handed starter who happens to be one of the greatest postseason performers ever.

If the Giants continue to be near the bottom of the NL West standings as the season progresses, Bumgarner rumors will only grow. The Phillies make plenty of sense for the ace, but there's no doubt more teams are watching, too.
