Pence, who turns 37 years old in April, made his first All-Star Game appearance since 2014 last season when he hit .297 with 18 homers and a .910 OPS for the Texas Rangers. But a back injury limited the former Giant to only 83 games in 2019.
The four-time All-Star also primarily was a DH last season in his return to the AL. He only played 23 games in the outfield, compared to 46 as a DH.
Pence hit just 17 long balls between 2017 and '18 with the Giants before his comeback season last year. He spent the offseason refining his swing and even played in the Dominican Winter League. Texas signed him to a minor league contract last season, however, Pence proved his worth as a big league bat.
