MLB rumors: A's rookie Jesús Luzardo tests positive for coronavirus

After a delay in receiving test results, A's rookie pitcher Jesús Luzardo reportedly has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reported the news on Tuesday. Luzardo and Mike Fiers, who trained together frequently in the offseason, had not been present at camp taking place at the Coliseum.

Fiers was eventually cleared to play on Tuesday to practice with the team, but Luzardo was absent.

Luzardo had been cemented in as one of the A's starters in the pitching rotation in 2020 after coming out of the bullpen last season, where he boasted a 1.50 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 12 innings.

He also had a strong spring training with 13 strikeouts in 8.1 innings during his Cactus League outings back in March.

As per MLB protocol, Luzardo will isolate for 14 days.
