MLB rumors: A.J. Pollock, Dodgers agree to four-year, $50M contract

The Giants will continue seeing outfielder A.J. Pollock in the NL West, but it won't be in Arizona.

Pollock and the Dodgers have agreed to a deal, reports Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The contract covers four guaranteed years worth around $50 million, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

Earlier in the offseason, it was reported that Pollock was seeking a contract close to Lorenzo Cain's five-year, $80 million deal. Farhan Zaidi's history shows those figures always put the former D'back out of the Giants' price range

The 31-year-old hit a career-high 21 home runs in 2018, though he also had his lowest batting average (.257) since his rookie year. Pollock was an All-Star in 2015, a season where he hit .315 with 20 home runs and 39 stolen bases.

Pollock has killed the Dodgers at the plate in his seven-year career. Over 89 games, he hit .291 with 17 home runs. They'll no longer have to face him, but the Giants will.

His numbers aren't quite as strong against San Francisco. Pollock has a .261 career batting average against the Giants in 86 games, and has hit six home runs in that span.

He's no Bryce Harper or Manny Machado, though perhaps Pollock being off the market can be a sign for the stove to get a tad bit hotter.
