McCutchen Watch: One hit in three at-bats; average at .336

Andrew McCutchen went 1-for-3 in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 6-2 loss to the New York Mets Monday. He now owns a .336 batting average, which leads the National League.

Giants catcher Buster Posey trails McCutchen with a .332 average as the two players race for the batting title with Melky Cabrera no longer eligible to win.

The Pirates have nine games remaining, the same as Posey's Giants have left on their regular season schedule.

While Posey barely trails McCutchen, he may receive more days off with the Giants having clinched the N.L. West already.

Posey is in search of his first batting title, though he already owns a World Series ring and a Rookie of the Year award in his brief career.
