Less than a week after coming off the disabled list, Matt Duffy appears to have aggravated his Achilles injury.

The new Rays shortstop was removed from Tuesday's game against the Padres at the beginning of the fourth inning due to "mild soreness" in his left Achilles.

He was removed as a precaution, the Rays announced. He was 2-for-2 with two singles and two runs scored before leaving the game.

He was replaced at shortstop by Tim Beckham.

Duffy, traded by the Giants on August 1, spent nearly two months on the disabled list with a left Achilles strain. He was originally placed on the DL on June 20. After acquiring him, the Rays activated him on August 11.

In 74 games between the Giants and Rays this season, Duffy is hitting .255 with 11 doubles, four home runs and 22 RBI. With his two hits Tuesday, Duffy is hitting .368 in five games with Tampa Bay.
