DETROIT -- Jim Leyland said Friday afternoon he believes Doug Fister is fine though he said the Detroit Tigers pitcher was due for further evaluation.
Fister stayed on to pitch in Thursdays game even after he was struck in the head by a line drive in the second inning. Fister passed a battery of on-field tests administered by the Tigers training staff.

He was sharp and outstanding but took the loss after he allowed a run, four hits and walked one in six innings in a 2-0 Giants victory at AT&T Park.
Leyland said he spoke to Fister on the plane ride home and didnt see anything alarming. The veteran manager said he had no further details on what the right-hander is in line for medically after the team returned home on Friday morning.
I did talk to him on the plane last night, and he seemed fine, Leyland said. Hes a little sore, but there didnt appear to be anything that looked alarming like loss of memory or --- he looked fine, his eyes looked fine, and the trainers have checked him out. So I think hes fine.
