Red Sox manager John Farrell let it be known on Thursday that Pablo Sandoval dropped 20 pounds since the end of the 2015 season.
"Well, he needs to lose probably another 20," Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow said on KNBR 680 Friday morning. "Pablo's a great player, but he has some discipline problems when it comes to the plate. He likes to eat. I mean, who doesn't?

"But he's in a situation now, especially in Boston -- Boston is not gonna be as forgiving with him as we were here in San Francisco. It just isn't the way that it works. Once you sign on as a free agent, you become a mercenary ... if Pablo doesn't change his ways, he's gonna get released. They're not gonna deal with it. He has to come up into camp this year in shape, he's gotta come in being a positive, he can't be a negative on his own program anymore."
In November 2014, Sandoval spurned the Giants to sign a five-year deal with the Red Sox.
Over 126 games, he hit .245 with 10 home runs and 47 RBI -- all career lows. He also struggled defensively with a .949 fielding percentage.

He didn't help his cause by struggling with conditioning throughout the season.

Krukow is hoping Sandoval bounces back in 2016.
"For Pablo, it's reality ... it's gonna make him a better player, and it's gonna prolong his career," Krukow explained. "We all liked the guy's game, he was a great Giant, a tremendous Giant. He had everything to do with their success here, and I don't wish anything but good things for the guy.
"But at some point in time, he needs to grow up. At some point in time, he's gotta quit eating like he's a 12-year old. Hopefully that time is now."
