Kelly to miss first two NLCS games, at least

SAN FRANCISCOGiants first base coach Roberto Kelly will be unavailable for at least the first two games of the NLCS against St. Louis, manager Bruce Bochy said shortly before Game 1 on Sunday.

Kelly was struck in the head by a Buster Posey line drive on Saturday during the Giants workout at AT&T Park.

Roberto will not be on the field. Hes got a concussion, so I dont see him being out there at least these first two games, if not longer, Bochy said. Hes at home, hes resting well, and he didnt sleep much yet so he hasnt come in yet. Dave Groeschner, our trainier, is hoping that hell come in so they can just check him out again.

Joe Lefebvre, the Giants assistant hitting coach, will fill in for Kelly. Lefebvre was the first base coach for the team in 2002, when the Giants lost the World Series to the Angels.

Hes got some experience. Hes been coaching in the big leagues and has been here all year, Bochy said.
