Joey Bart is making up for lost time with a bang.
The Giants' top prospect missed six weeks this season when a wild pitch fractured his left hand at the plate. After an impressive end to the season in Double-A, where he was named Eastern League Player of the Week, Bart has brought his hot stick to the desert.
Facing some of the top prospects in all of baseball, Bart has been the best hitter by far in the Arizona Fall League. After crushing yet another home run Friday night, the catcher is batting .400 with four homers and a ridiculous 1.479 OPS in eight games with the Scottsdale Scorpions. Bart is tied for the league lead in homers (four) and ranks first in on-base percentage (.559), slugging percentage (.920) and OPS.

One of Bart's Fall League goals was to work on laying off balls and attacking strikes. So far, so good. Not only are his off-the-charts power numbers there, Bart also has three more walks (8) than strikeouts (5).
Bart was recognized right away for his hot start and was named Player of the Week to open up the AFL. He then went full The U and took home the Championship Chains Hitter of the Week Award.

Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi recently hinted at his plan for Bart next season on The Giants Insider Podcast. Zaidi says the catcher won't be handed the honor but has an opportunity to start the 2020 season in Sacramento with the Giants' Triple-A affiliate.
