SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants have added Steven Duggar and Alen Hanson to the big league lineup. Now they’re hoping to bring some extra speed to Triple-A.
Veteran Peter Bourjos signed a minor-league deal with the organization and was assigned to Triple-A. Bourjos, 31, is a burner, a right-handed bat who has 66 big league steals and plenty of time in MLB center fields. He replaced Eury Perez, a similar player, on Sacramento’s roster.
“He’s still a good athlete. He can fly,” manager Bruce Bochy said. “He’s a veteran with good defense and he’s a right-handed bat that has a knack for scoring runs.”

Bourjos has played for five big-league teams over nine seasons. He got 44 at-bats in 36 games for the Braves earlier this season, batting .205 with one homer, two doubles and a triple.
The Giants have always liked Bourjos, and now he’ll add some veteran depth at a position that is no longer as big of a need. Duggar is getting a long look as the everyday center fielder and Gorkys Hernandez has been a revelation there this season. The club did not, though, have much depth outside of the big league level.
